- The fire took place on May 29 2009, and 30 employees and 20 patrons had to be evacuated.

- Approximately 80 to 90 greyhounds in a holding area near the track were evacuated to a safe location as a precaution.
- The blaze was battled by 35 firefighters from South Tucson and Tucson.
- It had started in the enclosed neon-lit tower on the southwest side of the main building.
- The fire was probably due to an electrical problem in the tower's neon lighting system.
- Losses were estimated at approximately 1 million dollars.
