Intro to Rialto Theater Tucson
The Rialto Theater in downtown Tucson is a concert venue and a performance theater. It is located across the street from Club Congress, a rival venue at downtown Tucson's one of the more urban districts.
The Rialto Theater opened in the year 1920 and has a rich history of entertainment which included vaudeville, silent and dance films in the early days, and Spanish and English language movies. In 1984, following a boiler explosion the theater sat empty for some years and was brought back into operation during the mid 90s. During this time the theater was in need of various repairs due to its ancient swamp coolers, decrepit interior and much peeling paints. Many great acts also suffered due to the theater's bad sound system. Since the Realto's renovation in 2002, the theater boasts of a new excellent sound system, air conditioners along with its distinct art deco motifs and original historic interiors. Today, the 1800 capacity Rialto Theater holds music concerts of all genres, and other events and shows like dance, performances, and occasional screenings of films. The theater is run by the Congress Street Historic Theatres Foundation and is owned by the city of Tucson.
There are many hotels Tucson AZ located near the Rialto Theater. Some of them include, the Hotel Arizona, Hotel Congress, the Arizona Inn, Doubletree Hotel Tucson, Innsuites Hotel and Suites, the Royal Elizabeth Bed & Breakfast, etc. Among these hotels, Hotel Arizona also offers special rates for Rialto Theater concerts which you can make use of.
