Rialto Theatre has a history, which is can be called as a saga of its own. Built in 1910, the theatre has been through a lot in this one century. The theatre is one of the first movie theatres in the world, which played silent films and is definitely the first theatre in Arizona to play a movie. However, a popular form of entertainment at that time were Vaudeville shows that included dance, music, plays, comedy shows etc. Such shows were hosted extensively at this very theatre and many people and some dignitaries too attended the shows back then.

The theater had witnessed several managements and has been even devoid of regular movies in the 1970s span. And was closed in 1984, due to recession, was opened in 1995 only. There are many sections of accommodating the audience at this Tucson theatre. There is a standing place for the first two-thirds and then the remaining forms the seating area. There is a newly constructed balcony section and the seats are supposedly very comfortable and cozy. Nonetheless, youngsters attending a band performance can rarely contain themselves to the seats.
